Kofuku- friday dinner

It is in recent times that my husband has developed quite a palate for Japanese food. I have a great fondness for the cuisine too. So we often scout for new Jap hang-outs. We visited Kofuku a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night. When we entered, the place was roaring with laughter and chatter of young crowd. Since we planned it at the end moment, we did not get a regular table and instead got a place over the sushi bar. I like facing the kitchen directly since I get to see the goings-on in there, so I was happy. We quickly ordered our Sake and a plate of non-vegetarian Maki Boston Roll to go with that.

The Maki was well made. Next we ordered a plate of Okonomi Yaki, which is a form of non-vegetarian pancake. We ordered ours with Pork, the end result was a big tasty pancake with beautifully balanced flavors. It was a very filling dish, had we known earlier would have probably tucked in a few more rounds of Maki before that :)

Sitting at the Sushi bar in Kofuku

Finally we ordered a bowl of Yaki Udon with beef for Main course. It was was a good dish, again quite filling. So it was a wise decision to order one bowl only. However I realized that I would prefer Soba over Udon anyday.

I liked the food very much, and will surely be back to sample a few more of the variants in the Sushi section. I loved the Sake and Sushi experience at the counter. If you are a no-fuss girl like I am, you would too. But a table booking over the weekends is highly recommended here. Also the Chef managed to squeeze out some time to interact with us personally and take our feedback. That made us feel very welcome in this place. All the cooks had a smiling face and were greeting people from their kitchen. That I think is a mark of great hospitality. Kudos to the team here!

At Jamjar Diner's on Friendship's Day

We visited Jamjar Diner's on the first Sunday of August, also known as the Friendships day, well whatever it is called we just need a reason to meet our friends. Due to it's increasing popularity the place was packed with guests that day. But we didnt budge either, since we had zeroed in on the location beforehand. We chose to wait our turn for about 20 minutes.  There happened to be about a small area in the bar section next to the big black telephone.  We ordered our craft beer of Gateway Brewery whilst we waited. I ordered for a White Zen while my partner went with a Doppelganger . He is already a huge fan of their beer. The drink was very refreshing, and I absolutely adored mine.  White Zen of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar Doppelganger of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar There was a huge turn up on that day,as it was a weekend. Friends and a lot of families were having a good time, while we were counting the minutes. Finally we got a place to sit up...

Day trip to Pompei from Rome!

Italy for travelers is like a  treasure trove! There is so much to see and absorb that time falls short. Southern Italy is known for it’s beauty- the Amalfi coast , Naples and the Island of Capri are gorgeous and cannot be missed. And in the heart of all of this, lies the 2000 year old ruins of a city named Pompei. Of course we have all heard of Pompei, of the thriving Roman city of ancient times which succumbed to the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in the 79 A.D. and the city with it’s people were buried under ash and rock. This allowed for an exceptional preservation. Although the excavations are still underway, what we get to see are marvels in architecture and art. For a traveler who has planned a few days in southern Italy, Pompei would be easily accessible. All you need to do is reach the Circumvesuviana (which is a circular train line) that runs around Naples to Sorrento. It will take you there. On the other hand for travelers (like us) who have largely planne...

The bad ass buffet at Global Fusion!

I have been to Global Fusion over eight times and I confess that till date I have never been able to taste all the dish on their menu. Such is the 'vastness' of their buffet! The very first time that we had been to this place, we were in for a surprise with this vast spread, but we learnt this soon enough and for our forthcoming trips we have been relatively prepared, because one cannot be fully prepared for this vast array of Asian food choices. Everything on their menu card happens to be on display, and one can order this together or in portions, for a fixed per head cost. Most of everything that they have on display are interesting options and good and the place is good value for money!  View from our Table 29 at Global Fusion Their display includes a Sushi counter. But my favorite is the Baked Prawn with Cheese and the Prawn Tempura. My husband is very fond of their Prawn Tempura and the Iceberg chicken. Their Tempura’s are perfectly crispy on the outside and m...
