At Breeze!

I hadn't heard of this place until about two days ago, when one of my girlfriends made a plan that we should all catch up from where we had last left off..this was a long standing plan which was  being dilly dally-ied on for the longest time. So we all finally agreed to align our timelines, and meet after work.We had to go to a place that was close to work so that we spend lesser time travelling to get to the venue, than spending with each other- quite a common concern in Mumbai. My friend chose the venue and we drove down to this place.
Breeze,  is situated on the 18th floor of a commercial tower in Hiranandani Gardens, Powai. As soon as we got there, I knew that I could come here just for the view, and of course the lovely ‘cold’ breeze. The place is a Mediterranean dining. We ordered our drinks to begin with. So a big dampener to start off,was that the restaurant serves only Vegetarian. For a meat lover like me, that was a downer. However I was ok with the trade off as long as the vegan food was good, and the view was so awesome.
So we ordered some munchies to go with our drinks, Cheese Chili balls that was our first order. The stuffing was of Cottage cheese or Paneer, and tasted alright. I was actually expecting some gooey oozy cheese, so was a little disheartened.

Next we ordered a Mediterranean meze platter. The only thing I liked in the platter was the Pita bread and the Hummus. The Moussaka was average. Everything else looked confusing, and also too less to be in, and called a platter!

After another round of drinks, we moved to ordering the main course. My friend was very insistent on ordering Tagine with 7 vegetables & Herby  Cous-cous because she loves it. Only until the plate arrived, after which she kind of avoided the green rather bland mix of gravy on the side. The Cous-cous was palatable, but the rest of the plate was not up to the mark.

They also had Italian (Pasta/ Pizza) option in their main course, so we thought of ordering a Pizza. We went with the 10 inch ‘Pizza Funghi’, a thin crust pizza with Wild mushrooms, grilled artichokes, tomato, kalamato olives, and mozzarella. To our surprise it was pretty good and tasted fresh.

The place actually raises it’s standard,as it has a lovely ambiance and arguably the only place in Powai with a view like it has. With some out of the box thinking, this place can be turned around into a real gem. They really need to work on their offering in Food. For a vegetarian restaurant, it has to notch up its standards in food taste.
Also they were out of stock on Bacardi white rum, when we ordered for a drink. We changed our order, but the Bar needs to at least have everything that is mentioned on the menu.
So in a nutshell,  although the place scores full marks on the ambiance, I would say that it has to do a lot to get there on the Food bit.
Ambiance- 4.5/5
Food- 3/5
Tariff- 3.5/5
Service- 3/5
Overall- 3.5/5

At Jamjar Diner's on Friendship's Day

We visited Jamjar Diner's on the first Sunday of August, also known as the Friendships day, well whatever it is called we just need a reason to meet our friends. Due to it's increasing popularity the place was packed with guests that day. But we didnt budge either, since we had zeroed in on the location beforehand. We chose to wait our turn for about 20 minutes.  There happened to be about a small area in the bar section next to the big black telephone.  We ordered our craft beer of Gateway Brewery whilst we waited. I ordered for a White Zen while my partner went with a Doppelganger . He is already a huge fan of their beer. The drink was very refreshing, and I absolutely adored mine.  White Zen of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar Doppelganger of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar There was a huge turn up on that day,as it was a weekend. Day trip to Pompei from Rome!

Italy for travelers is like a  treasure trove! There is so much to see and absorb that time falls short. Southern Italy is known for it’s beauty- the Amalfi coast , Naples and the Island of Capri are gorgeous and cannot be missed. And in the heart of all of this, lies the 2000 year old ruins of a city named Pompei. Of course we have all heard of Pompei, of the thriving Roman city of ancient times which succumbed to the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in the 79 A.D. and the city with it’s people were buried under ash and rock. This allowed for an exceptional preservation. Although the excavations are still underway, what we get to see are marvels in architecture and art. For a traveler who has planned a few days in southern Italy, Pompei would be easily accessible. All you need to do is reach the Circumvesuviana (which is a circular train line) that runs around Naples to Sorrento. It will take you there. On the other hand for travelers (like us) who have largely planne...

Stuffed Bagel with Chicken Teriyaki

This is a double whammy of a dish. It is simply my take on a stuffed Bagel , one could stuff it with their desired kind of ingredients. I for one love the sesame crusted Bagels, to go with my Chicken Teriyaki . It is quite a simple dish, yet full of flavor and serves as a heavy snack.                                           Stuffed Bagel ready to be eaten! A good Teriyaki sauce gives grilled chicken a rich auburn color. Our homemade version includes just the right amount of ginger to give it an equally appealing taste. While you can also use boneless breasts for this recipe, boneless thighs stay moister during grilling.
