The O:h Cha moment!

Weekends can be exciting for many reasons. For us, one happy thought (apart from sleeping till late) is to plan our lazy brunches with friends somewhere, or cooking up a delicious meal at home. The entire weekend sets rolling with all of this. So on one such rainy weekend, we thought of giving the online site  GourmetItUp   a try for the first time. They had a lovely set meal option at Oh:Cha Restaurant and bar. This place had opened a  few months ago, and we were planning to visit it ever since we had got some raving reviews. Located inside Mathurdas Mills compound, this place is almost hidden from sight. But as you walk in, the place turns around. The decor is understated, with beautiful hanging lamps all over the ceiling. Having reached there I realized that the place is run by an old friend. Tanai Shirali has been in the industry for several years now and I was happy to meet him after ages. I am a sucker for Thai food, and the GourmetItUp set menu was interest...

At Aoi

Japanese cuisine is slowly turning into a rage in Mumbai.. what with the Summers swinging in and the ‘living healthy’ statement being thrown at us from every possible direction one has turned to Japanese cuisine which is known for its delectable, and yet very healthy eating options. The new place to be in town is Aoi..which has the complete Japanese fare (minus the Sake ). Yes loyalists, we need that to be added to the menu here to complete our experience. The food however scores a full marks, I am stating right at the start, that is how nice and fresh the food is here..the staff are very pleasing and hospitable, so once you enter this place you are bound to feel that you are in good hands. To begin with, we ordered a Urumaki Lox smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber (8 pc in a plate) along with the accompaniments of Wasabi and Soy, which completed the experience.  Urumaki Lox smoked salmon with cream cheese and cucumber at Aoi To go with this, we ordered a ...

The bad ass buffet at Global Fusion!

I have been to Global Fusion over eight times and I confess that till date I have never been able to taste all the dish on their menu. Such is the 'vastness' of their buffet! The very first time that we had been to this place, we were in for a surprise with this vast spread, but we learnt this soon enough and for our forthcoming trips we have been relatively prepared, because one cannot be fully prepared for this vast array of Asian food choices. Everything on their menu card happens to be on display, and one can order this together or in portions, for a fixed per head cost. Most of everything that they have on display are interesting options and good and the place is good value for money!  View from our Table 29 at Global Fusion Their display includes a Sushi counter. But my favorite is the Baked Prawn with Cheese and the Prawn Tempura. My husband is very fond of their Prawn Tempura and the Iceberg chicken. Their Tempura’s are perfectly crispy on the outside and m...
