At Eddies Bistro!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin A mid-week lunch between work can be great fun, and more so when it is pre-planned and you know where you're heading. However, one thing lead to another, and I got late for this lunch. So I was relieved to see them letting patrons in quite past lunch hours. It was an all day dining apparently! so far so good! I ordered for the Grilled Tenderloin strips and the Mini Lamb sliders. Ok! so let me get this straight the Grilled Tenderloin strips were lip-smacking, and they tasted as good as they look in this picture. And so were the sliders, delicious and full of flavor.I can safely say that in my next trip to Eddies I will order for these two dishes without thinking twice! For me, it ticked all the boxes. While my chicken was cooked perfectly, th...

At Jamjar Diner's on Friendship's Day

We visited Jamjar Diner's on the first Sunday of August, also known as the Friendships day, well whatever it is called we just need a reason to meet our friends. Due to it's increasing popularity the place was packed with guests that day. But we didnt budge either, since we had zeroed in on the location beforehand. We chose to wait our turn for about 20 minutes.  There happened to be about a small area in the bar section next to the big black telephone.  We ordered our craft beer of Gateway Brewery whilst we waited. I ordered for a White Zen while my partner went with a Doppelganger . He is already a huge fan of their beer. The drink was very refreshing, and I absolutely adored mine.  White Zen of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar Doppelganger of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar There was a huge turn up on that day,as it was a weekend. Friends and a lot of families were having a good time, while we were counting the minutes. Finally we got a place to sit up...

The O:h Cha moment!

Weekends can be exciting for many reasons. For us, one happy thought (apart from sleeping till late) is to plan our lazy brunches with friends somewhere, or cooking up a delicious meal at home. The entire weekend sets rolling with all of this. So on one such rainy weekend, we thought of giving the online site  GourmetItUp   a try for the first time. They had a lovely set meal option at Oh:Cha Restaurant and bar. This place had opened a  few months ago, and we were planning to visit it ever since we had got some raving reviews. Located inside Mathurdas Mills compound, this place is almost hidden from sight. But as you walk in, the place turns around. The decor is understated, with beautiful hanging lamps all over the ceiling. Having reached there I realized that the place is run by an old friend. Tanai Shirali has been in the industry for several years now and I was happy to meet him after ages. I am a sucker for Thai food, and the GourmetItUp set menu was interest...

Mohammad Ali Road: A Ramadan Iftar dinner feast!

It is the 28th of July, the night when Mohammedans the world over are celebrating Eid-al-fitr . While here I am sitting and recounting my Ramadan dinner experience. It only feels like the best way for me to commemorate to their celebrations, by sharing my culinary experience at the famous Mohammad Ali Road. One's experience with Mughlai cuisine, it is said is incomplete without them visiting the sacred lanes of this place and eating with the locals. In my years of growing up in this city, I have come to this place many a times to visit a dear old friend, but never in the times of Ramadan . The roads at Mohammad Ali Road are notorious for their lengthy traffic on weekends and at nights during Ramadan this place almost literally comes to life. So this was officially my first visit here to walk past the local shops, see, eat and basically absorb what I could through all my senses. It was a Thursday night,  two weeks ago and the rains were mercilessly thrashing the city. We had ...

Bong Bong

About a couple of years ago, one of my dear friends had taken me to eat at a stall during the Durga Puja festival. It was probably the first stall by Bong Bong and we were among the first to sample their baked Rasgullas as customers. I was then informed that their restaurant was opening up in Bandra. Given the kind of variety in Bengali fare already available in the city, I didnt think of driving up to Bandra to give their food a try. However, until a few weeks back when I saw their new outlet in Powai. I went straight  up to this place to try a few of their dishes. It was a take away outlet, so I rummaged through their menu card and ordered a few unfamiliar looking dishes, especially the Rolls had a few strange names. I also carried along the menu card, simply because I liked the individuality of it.                                             Bong Bong outlet in P...

Stuffed Bagel with Chicken Teriyaki

This is a double whammy of a dish. It is simply my take on a stuffed Bagel , one could stuff it with their desired kind of ingredients. I for one love the sesame crusted Bagels, to go with my Chicken Teriyaki . It is quite a simple dish, yet full of flavor and serves as a heavy snack.                                           Stuffed Bagel ready to be eaten! A good Teriyaki sauce gives grilled chicken a rich auburn color. Our homemade version includes just the right amount of ginger to give it an equally appealing taste. While you can also use boneless breasts for this recipe, boneless thighs stay moister during grilling. MARINADE for the Teriyaki Chicken 1/4 cup Ketchup 1/4 cup Hoisin sauce 2 tablespoons Soy sauce 2 tablespoons Rice vinegar 2 teaspoons minced fresh Garlic 2 teaspoons minced fresh Ginger 2 teaspoons Sesame oil 400 g boneless, skinless chicken...

Cafe Boda for our Bengali fix!

Our visit to this place was as impromptu as it could get. The Bengali New year has just gone by, and the weekend was around the corner. So last week, we clubbed it all as a reason to try out the  Bong  food in this new eatery. Located in Hiranandani Gardens, this outlet is tucked inside a shopping arcade, so can be easily missed unless you are a regular in Powai. For us, it was an easy task. The menu had familiar items which brought back our hunger and fervor to eat a bit more :) We ordered the  Bhetki Rongpuri (Barramundi Fish cutlets)   to begin with. We had asked for their  Aam Panna  , but they did not seem to have that or  any of their featured special drinks, apart from the regular soda drinks. So I ordered for a Sweet lime.                                      Bhetki Rongpuri at Cafe Boda Next we ordered the  Chicken Kobiraji C...

Mocha Cafe & Bar - Ladies night!

Tell me what can possibly happen when three cheery and chattery women meet after a long time.. Well one of the possibilities is that they  turn the place around into a loud and happy hangout :) One of our last rendezvous went something like that. It was a Friday night, so spirits were high in general, we wanted to check out a place where we hadn’t been to before, somewhere where there would be music but not loud enough for us to catch up. So, we headed to Mocha cafe in Mumbai at R city mall, which was conveniently located for all of us. We opted for the sit out area, which was bright and decorated with comfy couches and lodged ourselves on one of the couches. We ordered our Chenin Blanc and The Non- Vegetarian platter because we were all hungry after a long day. One can  select 4 mini dishes in the platter, from the menu options in veg/ non-veg platter. We went with Hot Tennessee style chicken wings, Nut crusted fish fingers, Moroccan meat balls, Chicken Bruschetta. ...
