At 55 East, Grand Hyatt

We had the perfect Sunday lunch here. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with smiling faces, and ushered to a table. We went around to check the buffet spread and were convinced about trying it out.  To begin with we went to the Sushi counter. The sushis on display looked very interesting and we tried all of them. Perfectly balanced flavors and the quality was superlative. I believe we must have tried at least a couple of rounds of Sushi of all kinds, to our hearts content.  Next we tried the South Asian counters, which had the Indonesian, Singaporean flavors. There was a lot of prawns and fresh ingredients in these counters. Also there was the live counter, from which we hardly opted for anything. We next walked to the Indian counter to find chaats, knick knacks, and some tandoor starters, fish cutlets. Main course had a mix of North and South Indian options. The  Indian food was the right amount of spicy. We enjoyed ...

Rude boy lunch@ TGIF

It had been a while since we had visited TGIfridays .   What with all the new eateries in the city, there is always a new destination to experiment food in. And even the thought of doing so is exciting. However, we have had many a happy memories associated with this place. We reached here  quite late, by when most of the restaurants were closing for lunch. It was relatively empty as the peak hours were over. I ordered a November Seabreeze. For starters we ordered Loaded Potato skins topped with bacon. The dish was at it’s greasy best (but of course it was all fried!) but I let myself enjoy this rude boy lunch. The bacon gave the potatoes a nice salty aftertaste.                                          Loaded Potato Skins topped with Bacon at TGiFridays Although we wanted to try a few more with a side orders, I knew I wouldn’t have space for my m...

Pancakes for my Sunday!

In my childhood, my mother would make the savory pancake kinds, with vegetables and mushroom which were delectable. However, ever since I began making the traditional kinds, I feel that these  with maple syrup or honey are my favorites now. It is so very easy to make..one can say it is almost child’s play.. Ingredients- For 2 people Flour- 1 and 1/2 cups Salt- a pinch Baking powder- 1 tsp Egg- 2 Milk- 1 cup Butter- 1 Tbsp; later 1-2 cubes to be placed above the ready pancakes Maple syrup/ Honey- to drizzle over the pancakes Take the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, viz. Flour, Salt, Baking powder and mix. To this, add Eggs, Milk and whisk till it forms a consistency which is neither too thick nor too runny.  Over a flat non stick pan, add some butter to the surface. To this add a ladle of t...
