Sunday brunch at VongWong

The week before last, we had a wonderful Sunday brunch at VongWong’s. It was a clean stretch of a drive on Sunday, straight up to Nariman point located next to the Oberoi Hotel.
I was quite hungry as we had arrived late for lunch. We decided to go with their Sunday brunch menu. I ordered for the Strawberry cooler drink, while my husband went for a Pinacolada.

I tried portions of most of their Salad options from the spread, and they were good. I quite liked the Seafood salad, and the Prawn cocktail. There was also a Crispy Duck in spring rolls option, which we tried. The duck was cooked in Hoisin sauce, I believe and was a little too sweet for my palate.

Next we ordered from the Dumplings and Starter options. Among the dumplings , we had a portion each of : prawn and garlic chive dumpling, wasabi prawn dumpling, chicken sui mai in chilly oil, pork and ginger dumpling. While I liked most of them, but the mild flavor of the prawn and garlic chive dumpling was lovely, and so was the wasabi prawn.

From the Starters, we ordered 1 portion of Gar Hoey Bai Toey, which is a Thai dish where the Chicken is cooked wrapped in pandan leaves. Next we ordered for Honey glazed spare ribs, Satay Gai, and Goong Phla. Satay Gai is Chicken Satay, while Goong Phla is seafood dish. It tasted as fresh as it looked!

I not only loved the food, but also the ambiance, and the mood in the place. There was live country music while people were lunching. Food was fresh and flavorful, our favorite dishes were the Wasabi prawns and the Wasabi prawn dumplings. There was live country music while people were lunching. The service was top notch, on a busy Sunday lunch, the Manager was seen personally greeting and serving the people. In short, it was an afternoon well spent.

At Jamjar Diner's on Friendship's Day

We visited Jamjar Diner's on the first Sunday of August, also known as the Friendships day, well whatever it is called we just need a reason to meet our friends. Due to it's increasing popularity the place was packed with guests that day. But we didnt budge either, since we had zeroed in on the location beforehand. We chose to wait our turn for about 20 minutes.  There happened to be about a small area in the bar section next to the big black telephone.  We ordered our craft beer of Gateway Brewery whilst we waited. I ordered for a White Zen while my partner went with a Doppelganger . He is already a huge fan of their beer. The drink was very refreshing, and I absolutely adored mine.  White Zen of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar Doppelganger of Gateway Brewery at Jamjar There was a huge turn up on that day,as it was a weekend. The bad ass buffet at Global Fusion!

I have been to Global Fusion over eight times and I confess that till date I have never been able to taste all the dish on their menu. Such is the 'vastness' of their buffet! The very first time that we had been to this place, we were in for a surprise with this vast spread, but we learnt this soon enough and for our forthcoming trips we have been relatively prepared, because one cannot be fully prepared for this vast array of Asian food choices. Everything on their menu card happens to be on display, and one can order this together or in portions, for a fixed per head cost. Most of everything that they have on display are interesting options and good and the place is good value for money!  View from our Table 29 at Global Fusion Their display includes a Sushi counter. But my favorite is the Baked Prawn with Cheese and the Prawn Tempura. My husband is very fond of their Prawn Tempura and the Iceberg chicken. Their Tempura’s are perfectly crispy on the outside and m...

At 55 East, Grand Hyatt

We had the perfect Sunday lunch here. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with smiling faces, and ushered to a table. We went around to check the buffet spread and were convinced about trying it out.  To begin with we went to the Sushi counter. The sushis on display looked very interesting and we tried all of them. Perfectly balanced flavors and the quality was superlative. I believe we must have tried at least a couple of rounds of Sushi of all kinds, to our hearts content.  Next we tried the South Asian counters, which had the Indonesian, Singaporean flavors. There was a lot of prawns and fresh ingredients in these counters. Also there was the live counter, from which we hardly opted for anything. We next walked to the Indian counter to find chaats, knick knacks, and some tandoor starters, fish cutlets. Main course had a mix of North and South Indian options. The  Indian food was the right amount of spicy. We enjoyed ...
